Canada's National Sport
In 1994, a historical vote took place in the house of commons whereby, Lacrosse officially became Canada`s National Summer Sport. This great honour and responsibility was instilled upon us Canadians who have invested their time, energy and passion to the sport of lacrosse.
Box Lacrosse has always had a checkered existence in Quebec and across Canada. There were times when box lacrosse lived days of exceptional glory, but there were also times when the sport struggled for survival. In 2002, lacrosse realized a surge in popularity when Montreal got a professional team that competed in the National Lacrosse League (www.nll.com). Unfortunately, the team only lasted the one season. January 2012 will see the return of professional lacrosse to Montreal with the team playing its 10 home games at Verdun Auditorium.
